Studies have shown that pleasant scents favor positive social relationships. However, the effect of pleasant ambient odor on romantic relationships has never been tested.

In a field experiment, 1825 year old women walking alone in a shopping mall were approached by an attractive 20 year old male-confederate who solicited them for their phone number.

The women were solicited as they were walking in areas with pleasant ambient odors (eg, pastries) or with no odor. It was found that women agreed more often to the confederates courtship solicitation in the pleasant smelling areas. Positive mood induced by ambient odors may explain such results.

KITCHENER — It’s like live theatre pushed off the Broadway stage and thrown face first into a turnbuckle.

It’s professional wrestling, brought to Waterloo Region by a new venture, Tri-City Wrestling, and it comes with all the elbow smashes, flying clotheslines and body slams you would expect.

While professional wrestling often invites skepticism, Tri-City’s latest show, Redemptionat the Moose Lodge, impressed in ways you wouldn’t expect.

“All the stuff that we do is family friendly without being too over-the-top campy,” said Chris ‘Notorious TID.’ Tidwell, who defeated former World Wrestling Entertainment wrestler Shawn Spears in the main event to take the Tri-City Wrestling heavyweight belt. “You’re not going to see guys in Super Mario costumes or Spiderman versus Sailor Moon.”

The show was a unique experience in that everyone got involved — the wrestlers, their promoters, the referees and even the fans.

“We love our fans. We love the fans that bring out their kids,” Tidwell said. “Every kid that starts off as a wrestling fan, that kid could be the next Steve Austin, the next Hulk Hogan or Rock, the next Notorious TID.”

As the show opened in the dimly lit Moose Lodge, ring announcer Rob MacLeod invited the crowd to cheer, heckle and boo their most loved or hated performers. It was an offer few spectators turned down.

The afternoon featured eight bouts, including a 21-man battle royal, two women’s matches, two tag team battles and the heavyweight title fight.

While there were moments when disbelief was hard to suspend, the matches could be enjoyed by simply taking them for what they were — entertainment, rather than viewing them skeptically as though you figured out a magician’s trick.

“What we do is very unique,” said Ronnie ‘Shawn Spears’ Arneill. “When we get out there, we get in front of fans that are aware that it’s entertainment, but they’re able to escape reality for a split second and believe in what we’re doing. That’s the fun of it. They interact with you, you interact with them.”

The officiating was comically unbelievable at times. The refs would blatantly turn their gaze so a competitor could take a cheap shot, but that didn’t make the event any less entertaining.

“You can mentally prepare as best as you can, but you never really know what’s going to happen,” Arneill said. “It’s interactive, it’s live. You never know what the crowd’s going to want.”

The tag team title fight between the reigning Hollywood Hunks and the challengers — who went by the name, the Pissbeaters — offered proof. As the refereeing moved further over the top, the crowd became restless and a chant erupted.

“Hit the ref! Hit the ref!”

Sure enough, referee Phil Bundy took a shot to the face from one of the warriors in the ring and tumbled to the canvas, only to be thrown into a step over-toehold-face lock.

The fun comes in the fact that all of the wrestlers are trained professionals; everyone knew the referee was in no real danger.

With Bundy out of commission, the antagonist Pissbeaters took the belt from the fan-favorite Hollywood Hunks with relative ease.

“Going out there and having the pleasure of interacting with the crowd is one of the best things about wrestling,” Arneill said. “Sometimes you give them what they want and if you’re not that kind of a guy, you take it away. That’s the fun of pro wrestling, that’s the art of pro wrestling … I couldn’t put into words the atmosphere, you just have to feel it.”

The wrestlers don’t believe they are duping the audience. It’s not like the days of old when the under-workings of the World Wresting Federation (now World Wrestling Entertainment) were kept under wraps as though they were a threat to national security.

Tri-City Wrestling still offers the old-school feel of the days of Hulk Hogan and Andre the Giant, but coupled with an interactive and engaging experience where the fans can, and often do, determine the how the action unfolds.

“That’s the bottom line, it’s entertainment,” said Tri-City Wrestling founder Jeff Marsh.

Marsh, 51, puts on the persona of Tri-City president Duncan Marshall at the events, a hardened, Vince McMahon-esque figure who circles the ring like a vulture and occasionally jumps into the action.

Marsh got involved with professional wrestling in the 1980s as a ring technician with National Wrestling Alliance at Maple Leaf Gardens. In January 2011, he started Tri-City Wrestling to share his love of sports entertainment with Waterloo Region.

“I know that wrestling has a bad rep as being fake or being over the top … I myself have been in the ring a few times. Trust me, it’s not fake. It hurts like hell,” Marsh said.

These guys aren’t out to kill each other and you are likely to see them enjoying a beer together at a local pub after the title belt is lifted. But the bumps, bruises and scars are far from fake.

“For me to be able to get in there with (Spears) and have the kind of contest that we did … I couldn’t ask for a better opponent and I certainly couldn’t ask for a better outcome,” Notorius TID. said after he stole the belt from Spears. “I mean, I’m the champ. Not without my bumps and bruises … but that’s all part of the game.”

Tidwell wore evidence of the match’s ferocity in the form of a bright red goose egg on his forehead, a swollen hand and an array of welts and bruises, all of which were very real.

“Oh, that’s a pretty one,” Tidwell said, looking at his goose egg in the mirror after the match.

Tri-City Wrestling hopes to expand its fan base by increasing the number of events and moving to larger venues. “The ultimate goal is to get this on local TV in the area so that more fans can experience it,” Tidwell said.

Tri-City Wrestling also plans to open a wrestling school in Waterloo Region to develop homegrown talent and provide its crew of wrestlers a place to hone their skills. Tri-City’s wrestlers spend upwards of six days every week training for their performances.

“The thing about Ontario is that it’s a fantastic hotbed for young up and coming wrestlers,” Arneill said. “If you look at this roster and compare it with a lot of other rosters, no disrespect, but this roster, head to toe, is one of the best out there right now.”

Tri-City Wrestling’s next show is scheduled for July 8 at the Moose Lodge in Kitchener. Tickets are $15 in advance or $20 at the door and can be purchased at the Moose Lodge. Youth tickets are $10.

Years sold: 2003-2006

MSRP new: $11,998 (2003) to $13,898 (2006)

Blue Book retail value: $6335 (2003) to $7655 (2006)

Basic specs: A 942cc, 435-pound V-Twin dual-purpose bike producing 92 rear-wheel horsepower and capable of a 126-mph top speed.

Why It Won: BMW is rightfully credited for inventing adventure bikes back in 1981, but the KTM 950 Adventure gave the category new meaning in 2003. The 950 not only matched BMW’s G-series Boxer as both a road bike and a far-off-the-beaten-path explorer, it also was able to handle tough, technical off-road conditions almost as well as many much-smaller real enduro bikes. KTM used its unparalleled expertise in all phases of off-road competition to give the 950 a chassis and suspension package that allowed the bike to be both an amazingly good dirtbike and a seriously fun street machine.

Technically, this first 950 Adventure was a 2004 model introduced early in 2003. You therefore won’t find it in Kelley Blue Book’s 2003 entries, but it does appear in the 2004 listings. KTM added an upscale 950 Adventure S with longer-travel suspension in 2004, and in 2007, the displacement was bumped up to 999cc. In 2010, the 999cc 990 Adventure R (the “R” having replaced the “S” in KTM-speak) won our Best Dual-Sport Bike award.

From the 2003 Ten Best story: “Part rally racer, part dual-sport, part adventure-tourer, it’s the best multi-tasker ever to wear semi-knobbies and a what’s-over-that-next-rise attitude.”

Useful resources: Apparently, KTM Adventure owners would much rather ride than chat about their bikes, because there are fewer forums and owners-group websites for these bikes than there are for most other popular machines. Still, if you type “KTM Adventure” in your browser, you’ll come up with several interesting sites that provide good, useful information about maintaining, repairing and modifying the 950, 990 and even the single-cylinder 640 Adventure models. A good starting place would be ktmforums.com/forums/adventure, which covers the obvious. Another interesting site is ktm950.info/how/wotf/wotf.html, which contains a long list of detailed fixes posted by owners of both 950 and 990 Adventure models. And, as usual, there are plenty of sites selling used Adventures as well as all manner of accessories and equipment for these much-loved KTMs.

PHILADELPHIA, May 11, 2012 (BUSINESS WIRE) –
The American
National Rugby League (AMNRL), announced today an agreement to
partner with Grand Prix Rugby (GPR), a Los Angeles-based sports and
entertainment company.

The AMNRL is the governing body of the sport of Rugby League in the
U.S.A. as exclusively sanctioned by the Rugby League International
Federation. The AMNRL also is responsible for the U.S.A. national team,
the USA TOMAHAWKS, and has overseen its rapid rise to the 11th
ranked 2013 Rugby League World Cup contender.

Grand Prix Founder William Tatham confirmed the strategic importance of
this partnership, stating, “Clearly Rugby Union is the NFL of world
rugby, but Rugby League is a formidable foe both on and off the field,
and growing stronger every day. Thus we felt this was a very important
move for GPR and the sport of Rugby League to successfully compete in
the American sports market.”

“We’re very pleased to add Rugby League to our sports investment
portfolio,” said Alan Rothenberg, Chairman of GPR. “The AMNRL, under the
outstanding leadership of David Niu, has been making great strides in
the development of Rugby League across America, including the
possibility of an AMNRL ‘World Rugby League Sevens or Nines’ tournament,
and also a proposed World Series Champions tournament between the best
professional clubs in the world to be hosted in the U.S.A.”

GPR’s latest sports content partnership brings the world’s two rugby
codes under one umbrella, expanding GPR’s rugby rights holdings and
generating additional content for GPR’s domestic and global distribution
network.

Grand Prix’s latest strategic competitive strike followed Grand Prix’s
multi year — multi million dollar start up that culminated with the
following 90-day list of achievements in Grand Prix’s final countdown to
its 2012 — 2013 kick off:

–
Grand Prix sells the Grand
Prix New York franchise interest for a U.S. rugby record
$10,000,000 to businesswoman Carol Alyssa Childress

–
Grand Prix names the NFL
Network as Grand Prix’s exclusive broadcast partner for
world class USA Rugby sanctioned professional rugby sevens
championships

–
Grand Prix names AEG’s
Home Depot Center as Grand Prix’s home for world class USA
Rugby sanctioned professional rugby sevens championships

–
Grand Prix extends thru 2018 its USA
Rugby awarded U.S. Exclusive Sanction, License and Global
Broadcast Rights to own, operate and globally broadcast professional
rugby sevens

–
Grand Prix names Alan
Rothenberg, Major League Soccer founder and former Olympic
and FIFA World Cup official, as Grand Prix’s Chairman

–
Grand Prix names Neal
Pilson, former President of CBS Sports, overseeing Grand
Prix domestic production and broadcast operations

–
Grand Prix names Gary
Marenzi, former President of MGM Worldwide Television,
overseeing Grand Prix international production and distribution

–
Grand Prix names Kelly
Crabb, Olympic counsel and partner with Sheppard Mullin, as
Grand Prix’s corporate counsel

Prior to today’s announcement, GPR was most known in the rugby world for
its pioneering efforts to organize professional Rugby Union Sevens
through its strategic and exclusive partnership with America’s rugby
leader, USA Rugby.

USA Rugby, an official member of the Unites States Olympic Committee as
well as the Rugby World Cup’s International Rugby Board, had previously
awarded GPR the exclusive U.S. sanction, license and global broadcast
rights to own, operate and globally broadcast the professional sport of
Rugby Sevens, which was soon after named a new Olympic sport.

“While maintaining the independent integrity of the Rugby Union and
Rugby League operations, yet folding them under one production umbrella,
we felt from a broadcast perspective this partnership was a smart move
to avoid unnecessary confusion in a U.S.A. rugby market at a very
critical time in its growth,” said veteran sports dealmaker and former
President of CBS Sports Neal Pilson who sits on GPR’s executive
committee and exclusively represents GPR’s U.S.A. Broadcast TV rights.
“This new unified broadcast strategy will only help to build even more
compelling broadcast opportunities and further the growth and popularity
of the sport of rugby in the U.S.A.”

Grand Prix’s Executive Board is comprised of:

Alan Rothenberg, Chairman. Mr. Rothenberg, Chairman of 1st
Century Bank, and former Olympic, World Cup and NBA executive, is the
one man instrumental in bringing the FIFA World Cup to the U.S., and
using this platform off which to create Major League Soccer. There is
simply no other man better suited to bring world cup class rugby to the
U.S. Period.

Neil Pilson, U.S. Broadcast. Mr. Pilson, former President of CBS
Sports, leads Grand Prix’s domestic broadcast strategic planning and
execution. Neil recently and successfully completed an exclusive
domestic carriage agreement with Grand Prix’s preferred network partner,
the NFL Network.

Gary Marenzi, Global Distribution. Mr. Marenzi, former President
of both Paramount and MGM Worldwide Television, is personally handling
Grand Prix’s global production and distribution rights, and serves as
President of Grand Prix Studios.

Rich Rose, Special Projects. Mr. Rose, former President and COO
of Caesars (Palace) World Sports for over 13 years brings to Grand Prix
unparalleled expertise in gaming, special events, broadcast, etc.

Randy Bernstein, Commercial. Mr. Bernstein, President of Premier
Partnerships, will steer Grand Prix sponsorships, naming rights, and
brand execution across a global platform of sports, entertainment and
gaming.

Kelly Crabb, Legal. Grand Prix’s corporate counsel, Mr. Crabb is
a senior partner at the international firm of Sheppard, Mullin. Mr.
Crabb, Olympic commercial counsel for the Salt Lake City, Beijing and
now Rio de Janiero Summer Games is also simply the right man for the
right time to maximize Grand Prix’s extensive inventory of broadcast
rights, trademarks, patents, and most important, GPR’s U.S.A. Exclusive
Sanction and License Agreement with USA Rugby.

Niu said of the partnership, “This alignment of interests between The
AMNRL and GPR is going to have game-changing effects on the sport of
Rugby League not just here in the United States but throughout the Rugby
world. You will be hearing more about our plans for growing our existing
amateur domestic competitions from grassroots to senior level, an
exciting national professional league, and an exciting schedule of

Former NPR and current Fox News political analyst Juan Williams made an excellent point Monday night on ?The O?Reilly Factor.? Williams said the major reason President Barack Obama had not endorsed same-sex marriage is because of the strong opposition to it in the black and Hispanic communities.

Who could have doubted, though, that the president favors expanding the definition of marriage to include gays and lesbians?

Vice President Joe Biden brought this divisive social issue to the forefront of the presidential campaign with his comments Sunday on ?Meet the Press.? Biden said he is ?absolutely comfortable with the fact that men marrying men, women marrying women and heterosexual men and women marrying one another are entitled to the same exact rights, all the civil rights, all the civil liberties.?

White House Press Secretary Jay Carney tried to have it both ways when he claimed the president?s position on same-sex marriage is still ?evolving.? Whole species have come and gone faster than the president?s ?evolution? on this issue. Carney said the president ?opposes efforts in states to repeal rights or deny rights to LGBT citizens that have already been established.? This means the president opposes North Carolina?s new constitutional amendment that defines marriage as the legal union of a man and woman and bans same-sex marriage, civil unions and domestic partnerships.

We are supposed to believe the president opposes ?discrimination? against same-sex couples who wish to marry, but still favors traditional marriage, as he claimed back in 2008 when he said he believed ?marriage is between a man and a woman.? At least, of course, until Wednesday when he sat down for a hastily arranged interview with ABC?s Robin Roberts and said he thinks ?same-sex couples should be able to marry.? It appears he?s calculated that whatever votes might be lost by coming out for same-sex marriage will be gained by the activism of gay rights advocates and their political contributions.

Traditional marriage is an issue most conservative Christians embrace, but even with the North Carolina result and similar laws in other states, this is a battle they are unlikely to win for a number of reasons. One is the behavior of so many in the traditionalist camp. If you are Christian and are going to argue in favor of traditional marriage, it doesn?t help that so many in your camp are poor examples of what marriage is supposed to be ? a lifetime union, steadfast and binding through good times and bad, sickness and health.

THE first time Corky Alkin remembers being a nonperson was 20 years ago, at a shoe store in the San Fernando Valley suburbs of Los Angeles. Although Mrs. Alkin was the one shopping, the salesman spoke only to her grown daughter, Jodie Reff.

Special Section

More articles on employment, investments, estate planning and fitness for retirees.

“I think he thought, ‘This old lady didn’t know what she was doing,’ ” said Mrs. Alkin, a retired executive assistant and grandmother of two, now 84.

Ms. Reff, 53, said the same sort of treatment still occurs when she accompanies her mother on visits to doctors. Even if the doctors do not know that Ms. Reff is a retired nurse, “they’ll ask me about her condition, and they’ll explain to me what’s happening with her,” the daughter said.

Ms. Reff said that she typically turns to her mother to answer the questions. But the doctors keep talking to Ms. Reff anyway.

About six months ago, Mrs. Alkin finally had enough. When she went to the drugstore, and the pharmacist began — as usual — conversing with her daughter, Mrs. Alkin interrupted. “I said, ‘Talk to me!’ ” she recalled.

Such indignities seem to happen to almost everyone with gray hair or a few wrinkles, and at every sort of place. Store clerks, bank tellers, government workers, pharmacists, hairdressers, nurses, receptionists, and doctors alike ignore the older person and pay attention exclusively to the younger companion, regardless of who is the actual customer or patient.

“Older people are invisible in society after a certain point,” said Nancy Perry Graham, editor in chief of AARP The Magazine, the flagship publication of the advocacy group for people over age 50. “It’s one of the last remaining acceptable prejudices.”

Ms. Graham and other gerontology experts said they knew of no formal statistics or academic studies concerning the interaction of older adults, younger companions and employees. However, Ms. Graham estimated that she encountered an example from an AARP member, a co-worker or personal experience once a month. Most of the specialists interviewed for this article promptly volunteered tales from their own lives, without being asked.

The stories come from every part of the United States and from service workers of both sexes. The customers and their companions, however, are almost always female. That is mainly because these situations are unlikely to happen with a married couple, and it is the wives who usually outlive their husbands, and the daughters or daughters-in-law who are usually their caretakers.

Advocates for older people acknowledge that the employees’ behavior is sometimes practical. Older people often have physical problems — including deterioration in sight, hearing, balance, memory and agility — that make it difficult to comprehend complex instructions or react quickly to directions. Of course, those with severe disabilities, like Alzheimer’s disease, certainly need assistance.

Phyllis Moen, a sociology professor at the University of Minnesota who does research on retirement, described a typical encounter when someone has a hearing problem: “The clerk may have just asked the person something, and they didn’t hear her. Now she’s short-tempered.”

Thus, the clerk, nurse, or other service worker is tempted to turn to the younger adult, who seems more likely to understand.

As director of the geriatric medicine program at the University of Cincinnati and a former president of the American Geriatrics Society, Gregg A. Warshaw said he tried to focus on speaking with the older patients in his private practice and not their relatives. However he said, not all his colleagues were so considerate.

“Health professionals are not immune from a certain amount of bias that the older person is not going to understand what you’re talking about and it’s going to be easier to get the information from the children,” he said.

Moreover, as soon as someone walks into a store or office with a grown child, Ms. Graham of AARP said, “the assumption is that the parent must need help understanding.” Although the daughter may be merely the chauffeur, the service worker thinks she is also the interpreter, decision maker and controller of the pocketbook.

The type of office or facility could make a difference, although experts disagree on which types or why. Some say that retail outlets may be the worst offenders, because their staffs do not get much training, while others point out that these workers need to be nice to their customers in order to make the sale.

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, May 03, 2012 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) –
Today Involver, the most popular platform for Facebook Pages,
introduced its Engagement Optimization API and associated data feeds.
This first-of-its-kind product allows social advertising platforms to
integrate page management and advertising platforms, using real-time
response from their audiences to optimize ad spend on behalf of their
customers.

In January of this year, Involver powered more than one million pages
on Facebook and reached more than 2 billion users. “Having the
largest user base forces us to think about scalable and broadly
applicable solutions,” said Rahim Fazal, Chairman and Co-Founder of
Involver. “This is the industry’s first enterprise-grade, scalable
solution to the problem of reliably connecting ad spend to brand
results.”

Demand for true engagement-based optimization — rather than with
limited data sets provided by Facebook Insights — has been validated
by legacy point solutions on the market. Involver’s new offering,
which leading ad platforms have already adopted, has established
itself as a broader market solution.

“Advertisers are demanding engagement beyond simple actions. For
example, a typical contest on Facebook might support ad optimization
on ‘likes’ and ‘shares,’ but not on contest entries or coupon
downloads post-entry,” said Roland Smart, Sr. Director of Product
Marketing, Involver. “While consumers are warming to transacting on
Facebook, brands’ immediate opportunities must focus on engagement
and qualified referral.”

With Facebook approaching $5 billion in advertising revenue, the
social ad optimization industry is being swept up in incredible
growth as well. “Our customers look to us to optimize their ad spend
on Facebook in the same ways we optimize across other social
ecosystems,” said Jason Beckerman, Chief Strategy Officer and
co-founder, Unified. “Having social engagement data via an API allows
us to meet this demand for our joint customers and track engagement
beyond the click, allowing marketers to maximize brand engagement on
Facebook.”

Involver’s unique approach, creating an API and data feeds that are
available to all ad platforms rather than partnering with a single
one, has made it possible for more advertisers to use engagement
optimization for their benefit. While five launch partners have
already integrated the solution, Involver is opening access to
include additional partners today.

“Involver is delivering a true platform for managing social presence,
providing marketers not only with the flexibility and scale necessary
to succeed, but also the hooks necessary to integrate with
best-of-breed systems throughout the enterprise,” said Matt Lawson,
VP of Marketing at Marin Software. “Releasing functionality like the
Engagement Optimization API will allow them to build an ecosystem of
partners so their customers can select the advertising platform
that’s right for them.”

Involver’s solution isn’t exclusively for optimization of Facebook
Ads; the Engagement Optimization API and data feeds can also be
utilized to fine-tune any digital campaign — including email
marketing or organic posts on Facebook, Twitter, and other channels
– based on social engagement.

About Involver
Involver is the solution of choice for the world’s
biggest brands trying to connect with customers across the social
web. Over 1 million brands and agencies including Target, Facebook,
Razorfish and Best Buy use Involver to power their marketing efforts
to a combined audience of over a billion relationships.

Involver pioneered the first social app suite on Facebook and is now
leading the industry with SML(TM) (Social Markup Language), allowing
front-end developers to achieve pixel-perfect application
development. Involver’s Platform acts as a marketer’s system of
record, bringing everything from app management and stream
response/moderation to publishing updates and analytics into a single
intuitive interface.

Involver is a Facebook Marketing Developer and a technology provider
for Facebook’s internal marketing team, with applications like the
Involver Leaderboard and Stories. Headquartered in San Francisco, CA,
with offices in Austin, TX, and New York, NY, Involver was founded in
2007. Investors include Bessemer Ventures, Cervin Ventures and WTI.

Not too long ago, we got word that Doctor Who will, par for the course, get a new companion in the upcoming season to replace Amy Pond and Rory Williams: Jenna-Louise Coleman. As you might notice, shes quite pretty, which might also lead you think about the past companions, all of which (from the 2005 reboot series) are attractive, most of which are empirically gorgeous. With the whole hullabaloo that seems widespread on the Internet regarding the Doctor someday being played by a female, one might also run into people speculating or complaining about how most of his companions are, by and large, young, attractive females. Showrunner Steven Moffat has a pretty simple answer regarding that, and it sure makes sense.

No, Catherine Tate isnt unattractive, but shes not part of the group to which Moffat is referring, which contains four out of five young, super gorgeous females. Speaking in an interview in Doctor Who Magazine, Moffat addressed why, canonically speaking, young, attractive females always seem to end up as the companion:

you are always going to have the same sort of person, just because its the same man choosing them, and its the same person being chosen.

I think the function of a companion is pretty simple. I dont think thats very difficult. Its just a question of who credibly is going to agree to go in the TARDIS? Whos going to do it? Is it going to be a mother of 15 children? No. Is it going to be someone in their 60s? No. Is there going to be a particular age range? I mean whos going to have a crush on the Doctor? You know, come on! Its more than a format. Its evolved from good, dramatic reasons.

That sure makes sense, doesnt it? As far as were aware, the Doctor is heterosexual; he had a wife and children back before he traveled the universe in his blue box, and with the recent series, hes fallen in love with a female, and has only been attracted to females (in other standalone love affairs). He travels the universe alone, and the whole thing about his character is that hes the loneliest being in the universe. So, logically, what would the loneliest being in the universe (who really hates being lonely) do? Look for companionship. And whatever that beings sexual identity might be (whether it straight, gay, or pansexual, as weve experienced with Captain Jack) is probably what that being would lean toward when trying to stave off loneliness. Okay, but why are the young, attractive females always straight and love the Doctor? you might ask. Another simple answer: People are more likely to be drawn to people theyre drawn to, so a straight female with a propensity for crushing on mysterious, ridiculously charming, heroic men will probably go ahead and follow that kind of crush.

Basically, its all logic and probability.
